1. Introduction and Diagnostic Data Collection
At VelocityVerify, our mission is to provide accurate network diagnostics. To facilitate an internet speed test, our infrastructure must inherently collect specific technical data points. This Privacy Policy details our data processing methodologies, strictly adhering to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and globally recognized consumer protection standards.
2. Speed Test Data Processing
When you initiate a speed test on our platform, we collect the following diagnostic data to calculate your network performance and connect you to the optimal testing server:
- Network Information: Your public IP address and Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- Location Data: Approximate geolocation (derived from your IP address) to route your test to the nearest geographic server, minimizing baseline latency.
- Performance Metrics: Download speed, upload speed, ping (latency), and jitter.
- Note: We may aggregate and anonymize this performance data to publish global or regional ISP performance indexes. This aggregated data cannot be linked back to an individual user.
3. Advertising, Third-Party Cookies, and Web Beacons
To maintain our testing infrastructure as a free resource, we utilize third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. Please review the following mandatory disclosures regarding data collection for advertising purposes:
- Google and Third-Party Vendors: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to VelocityVerify or other websites.
- Advertising Cookies (formerly DoubleClick DART): Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve targeted advertisements to our users based on their visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Web beacons may also be utilized by these third-party ad servers to collect non-personally identifiable information to measure ad effectiveness.
- User Opt-Out Rights: Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, users may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
4. GDPR and CCPA Consumer Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you possess the right to request access to, deletion of, or correction of your personal data. California residents may exercise their right to "opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information." To exercise these rights regarding your IP or diagnostic data, please contact our Data Protection Officer via the operational framework listed below.
