Editorial Policy
Last updated: July 2026
VelocityVerify is an independent network diagnostic and editorial platform. We cover internet speed, latency, hardware, and ISP performance. This page explains exactly how our content is created, how we earn revenue, what our standards are for testing, and how we fix mistakes.
Core principle: Our editorial conclusions follow the data, not the revenue. No partner, advertiser, or sponsor influences our test results, recommendations, or criticism of ISPs or products.
1. Who Creates Our Content
Every article published on VelocityVerify is written or reviewed by a named author with relevant technical expertise. Author credentials, backgrounds, and article histories are listed on their author pages:
- Younes Kirat, CCNA, CWNA — Director of Network Diagnostics. 10+ years in Tier 3 network operations and consumer router benchmarking.
- Sarah Jenkins — Lead Telecommunications Analyst. Specialises in ISP policy, consumer data rights, and privacy infrastructure.
AI tools may assist with research organisation and draft structure, but every published word is verified, rewritten, and approved by a named human author. We do not publish raw AI-generated articles.
2. Our Testing Process
Full methodology details are at our Testing Methodology page. In summary:
- Hardware testing: All routers, mesh systems, and modems are physically tested in a wired Ethernet environment before wireless scenarios are introduced. We measure download speed, upload speed, unloaded latency, loaded latency, jitter, and bufferbloat grade — not just headline numbers.
- ISP performance: ISP claims are cross-referenced against FCC broadband data, our own platform's aggregate test results, and the fine print of the provider's Service Level Agreement.
- VPN testing: We do not accept "no-log" claims without independent audit evidence. DNS and WebRTC leak tests are performed in-house for every VPN we recommend.
- Speed test platform: The VelocityVerify speed test uses a multi-stream TCP measurement approach with server-side input validation to prevent result manipulation. The test isolates your real connection — not a prioritised ISP fast lane.
3. How We Earn Revenue
VelocityVerify earns money through:
- Affiliate commissions: When you purchase a product through a link marked with a disclosure notice, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partnerships do not influence our editorial ratings or recommendations. Products are tested independently first; partnerships are considered afterwards.
- Display advertising: We use Google AdSense to display ads. Advertisers have no control over, and no access to, our editorial content or testing data.
Articles containing affiliate links are marked at the top with an italicised disclosure notice and link to this page and to our Affiliate Disclosure. All affiliate links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute as required by Google's policies.
4. Independence Guarantee
- No manufacturer, ISP, or VPN provider can pay to improve a review score or remove negative findings.
- We do not accept free products in exchange for positive coverage. Products provided for review are disclosed in the article.
- No ISP or advertiser may see article content before publication.
- Data-driven articles cite only numbers sourced from our own platform's aggregated, anonymised database or from credible third-party sources (FCC, Ookla, BroadbandNow, operator SLAs). We do not invent statistics.
5. Corrections Policy
We take accuracy seriously. If you believe something we have published is factually incorrect:
- Email us via the Contact page with the article URL, the specific claim you believe is wrong, and your evidence.
- We will investigate within 5 business days.
- If a correction is warranted, we will update the article, add a visible correction notice at the top, update the
dateModifiedfield, and acknowledge the person who reported it (unless they prefer anonymity). - We do not silently delete wrong content. Corrections are transparent.
6. Linking Policy
External links in our editorial content are included because they provide useful context — not because of a commercial relationship. Affiliate links are always disclosed. We use rel="noopener" on external links for security.
7. Comment & Community Policy
VelocityVerify does not operate public comments. Reader feedback is submitted via the Contact page. We do not moderate or host third-party community discussions on our platform.
